Kanakaris law firm was founded in 1991 by Gregory Kanakaris and has been operated continuously since then and successfully handled numerous disputes of an international nature with professionalism

JOHN C. KYRIAKOU
MANAGING PARTNER
John C. Kyriakou is a senior lawyer at the Supreme Court of Greece with extensive experience in shipping and commercial law disputes, finance and property matters, both as a litigator and as a counsel.

He is a graduate of the Law School of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a Master’s degree in Shipping Law from University College London (UCL). John is a member of the Piraeus Bar Association.

Throughout his years of experience John has covered most of shipping areas. Indicatively, he possesses vast experience in charterparty and bill of lading disputes, marine insurance liability, cargo and crew claims. His expertise includes advising and handling in Court disputes on salvage, collisions, general average, personal injuries and casualties issues; advising claimants and defendants in court involving shipowners, charterers, underwriters and banks; acting as legal counsel in enforcement, security measures and arrest proceedings in shipping and commercial law disputes; acting for insurance companies as claimants or defendants in commercial law cases; consulting on shipping matters and acting for P and I Clubs, insurance institutions and London shipping law solicitors.

EVAGGELOS APOSTOLOU-KERAMEUS
LEGAL COUNSEL
Evaggelos is a senior Attorney-at-law admitted before the Supreme Court and the Council of State with deep expertise and vast experience in the areas of aviation and shipping law.
​
He served as the Legal and General Counsel for the Greek State owned Airline Company OLYMPIC AIRWAYS for 25 years and was in charge of the relocation of the Airline to the new Athens Airport (1997-2001), the preparation for the privatization of the Airline - compliance and due diligence, and the privatization and sale of the 100% of the Airline (2008-2009), among other projects. From 2009-2012, he was the Chief Appointee (Legal) for the Receivership of the unsold assets of the Airline.

He also has a wealth of experience on energy related cases. More specifically, he acted as Legal Counsel at OLΥMPIC FUEL COMPANY formed by Avin, Motor Oil, BFSC Belgium, HansaConsult Germany & Olympic Airways, and was involved in the funding, deployment and operation of Athens International Airport's hydrant refuelling system. He also participated in the negotiations and provided legal support with regards to the deployment and operation of the pipeline for the supply of aviation fuel to the new Athens International Airport at Spata.

He is a graduate of the Law School of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a Master of Laws in Transportation and EU law from University College London (UCL). He is also a member of the Athens Bar Association.

ALEXANDROS DELOUKAS
REAL ESTATE CONSULTANT (EXTERNAL PARTNER)
Alexandros Deloukas is a senior urban planner and transportation engineer with a long-standing experience on matters of real estate accessibility, land value capture and site-specific hedonic pricing.
He studied at the Varvakeion Model School in Athens and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich.
He worked for the planning of the Athens Metro extensions and their alignment with respect to population and jobs served. Metro station catchment areas on-foot and via bus feeders are in the center of his interest.
